Data & calculation
USD expenses are converted using the latest same-year World Bank household-consumption PPP and official exchange rate: USD × exchange rate ÷ PPP. Inputs are in 2026 dollars; this estimate assumes the latest observed relative country price levels still hold in 2026. It preserves one USD = one international dollar in the US. Published 2026 country PPPs are unavailable. This is a broad purchasing-power estimate using historical exchange rates and country prices, not a current exchange quote or a personalized spending basket.
Monthly yield = nest egg × ((1 + annual yield)^(1/12) − 1). Yearly yield uses the annual rate. Monthly inflation compares adjacent published calendar months; yearly inflation compares the selected month with the same month one year earlier. Missing observations stay unavailable.
Inflation reserve = nest egg × period inflation. Tax = positive gross yield × tax percentage (default 0%); losses receive no tax credit. Net = yield − tax − reserve. International dollars use US-dollar purchasing power, so net income is also the USD spending budget. Origin coverage = net ÷ period USD expenses. US coverage = net ÷ (period USD expenses × the lifestyle PPP conversion factor). The latter estimates coverage of the same lifestyle in the US. Yearly expenses are 12 monthly budgets. Calculations apply the selected historical inflation rate to your current inputs; they are scenarios, not portfolio performance. The tax rate is a user-specified estimate; fees are excluded.
Map coverage uses the same international-dollar lifestyle basket in each destination: local expenses = international expenses × destination PPP; local net income = net USD × destination exchange rate. Coverage is local net / local expenses. Percentages are uncapped; colors run from red at 0% to green at 100% and above, with black for unavailable data. LCU means local currency units.
